So I went to Fanna-nacker-ding-dong this weekend and it was a lot of fun! St. George knows how to throw a pretty cool con. I haven't been since two years ago, so I went to see if it had grown any and what was new.
Wednesday sucked ass. I woke up to apply for two jobs, but before that I went to Costume Closet in order to pick up a wig for my costume. Ended up getting a "good enough for now" wig and continued on my way. The first job I applied for was like "Oh yeah we're totally doing interviews!" so I was like "lol k", got all dressed up annnnnddd... ended up just filling out an application. *rolls eyes*
In any case my car was somewhere in between the point of "Shit dude, you better get gas..." and "No... seriously... if you don't soon, you're screwed". I figured I'd have enough to go SIX BLOCKS for gas. NOPE. Ran out of gas on some dead end road by the first job interview, so I had to walk and get gasoline and bring it back which took at least 45 minutes. Once I got that done, I filled it up with the last of my money because I wasn't getting paid until Friday and my bank account was loling at me. I drove out near the airport to fill out another application, then out to
Thursday night,
Friday was awesome, mostly because the hotel that Fannatiku provided gave free breakfast and LOTS OF IT. Definitely an awesome perk. Hina got on her Alice dress and ran off to run a Cosplay Panel, while the rest of us filled up our tummies with free food and then got dressed in our cosplays. Orca dressed as White from Pokemon White/Black version and looked hella cute and very accurate. Sparky and Alek decided to bow out, but Sparky still wore his hat, as Orca had made him a costume of Black. I brought out my "secret cosplay" which was.... yeah it was Aladdin. XD I still hated the wig, but everyone was cool and commented on it so I was happy. :3 I got a few pictures and then did some sign ups for Cosplay Chess the next day after Pannon finished getting sign ups for Battle Cosplay. Hina signed up with me which made me so happy. :3 People seemed really excited for the Chess event so I was kind of nervous... I wanted it to be awesome and a lot better than what had happened at Banzai this past year. The rest of the day was pretty laid back. I got some pix with Hina in my Aladdin costume and hung out with Orca as she had to stay in the Con Ops room for some volunteer stuff. Orca, Pannon and I had gotten in free for running events and doing that as well. We had fun drawing random things on the whiteboard though and referencing a vid I'd shown them (DONKA DUBAL!) but after that it was karaoke time! We sang karaoke and I met up with Angela and Kimi there too! I sang "A Whole New World" with them horribly cuz my voice was shot, but it was fun to derp as Aladdin. XD After karoke we all went to bed, tired as fuck. I think we maybe got... 3 hours of sleep? ...maybe. XD
Saturday I woke up really nervous cuz of chess. I dressed up in Todd and I had asked Sparky to come with me to help be my other chess master. I ate a bit of breakfast and headed out to the outdoor tent to set up. Once we got the grid all down, everyone was excited to play and it was a BLAST!!! They all seemed to have a good time and Sparky and I had a lot of fun putting people up against each other. Definitely the highlight of my con. Orca and Hina were running the dating game after that, so I got to be Todd in that which brought on some lawls. I thought a lot of the contestants were HILARIOUS, and the event turned out amazingly. Battle Cosplay was after that and we dressed up Hina as Kim from Scott Pilgrim in her Chie jacket. We didn't get to play very long... in fact we died... faster than I've seen most die at Battle Cosplay. XDDDDD We still had fun anyway though. Hina and I walked to Dairy Queen after that and got some food (she bought me some cuz she's awesome) and then came back to get ready for the Masquerade. I dressed up in "Hipster Kanji" and we put on our skit which was hella fun to do, especially with
Sunday we road tripped back and planned stuff for later. I had a GREAT time at this con. The staff was awesome and the fact that we could get free breakfast and lunch in the con suite every day made it an excellent con for a budget. The people were very nice too... so I do believe I will be going back next year to run chess and have fun with everyone down there! I highly suggest Anime Fannatiku if you want a laid back non-expensive con with your friends. <3
See ya'll at Sakura-Con! <3
